About the Campout
Our December campout is climbing and rappelling at the Flint River Adventure Center south of Atlanta near Molena, GA. In the morning all participants will climb and rappel on the tower. Scouts 13 and over will have the option to pay an additional $17.50 for High COPE in the afternoon. Scouts under 13 will plan activities they would like to do (e.g., fishing, hiking, teambuilding games, time in camp, etc).
Please note that climbing and High COPE is also available for all adults who wish to participate.
Participants will need long pants or shorts (no athletic shorts), shoes with “grippy” soles (boots not recommended) and a water bottle.
Every participant must have parts A and B of the Medical Forms turned in by the Tuesday following the registration deadline. If they are not turned in during that meeting, the participant will not go. These forms take very little time to complete but compound the work for our Medical Officer when they are not turned in by the deadline.
By the registration deadline, all Adults must have Youth Protection Training and Hazardous Weather Training completed
** This is a great opportunity to work on requirements for the Climbing merit badge. Make an effort to start the merit badge before the campout.
On Sunday, the Troop will drive back to Atlanta stopping for lunch on the way.
For REgistration
Select the "Register Here" link below to access the registration page in Trooptrack. Check out this link for Trooptrack instructions and FAQs. If you cannot find the email sent in August with instructions for completing your Trooptrack account, email technology@oakgrovescouting.org.
At the link above, it will take you to a document which gives you instructions on registering in TroopTrack and providing key info (you just need to do this once, unless it changes!). We need this info and it needs to be in the correct spot so we can easily pull all participant info together for the campout. Within the profile of each Scout and Adult attending, please provide . . .
“Basic Info” → Select “Edit” and complete Date of Birth (not needed for Adults)
“Contact Info” → Select “Edit” and complete “Email” and “Cell Phone” for primary contact. Complete “Secondary Email” and “Home Phone” for “Emergency Contact”. Note: Ensure that the Secondary Email and Phone is not an adult who will be going on campouts.
“Notes” → Select “Edit” and provide the following three pieces of info
Any allergies the Scout or Adult has
Any important Food Preferences the Scout or Adult has (e.g. vegetarian, gluten-free, etc).
A yes or no if the Scout will take medications during a campout (even over-the-counter meds) (not needed for Adults)
If the answer to any of the above are None, please include that so we know you reviewed. We need this info for campouts. Update it as needed.
Example (you can copy these three lines and paste, and then edit)
Allergy: Pollen, eggs
Food preferences: None
Medications: Yes
“Emergency Contact Info” → This info does not come through on reports we run, so it does not serve as the primary place to store Emergency Contact Info (that is in the "Contact Info Section" for both Scout and Adult participants. You are welcome to list anyone else who may be an emergency contact not already included in other fields.
This ensures we have accurate info on everyone for each campout. You only need to do this one time, unless the info changes . . . . then please update.
Scouts 13 and over have the option to add High COPE in the afternoon for an additional $17.50. Within Trooptrack, look for "Event Items Available to Purchase". Select, it will be added to your cart, and you can then check out.
Scouts under 13 will climb and rappel in the morning and then can detemine what they want to do (e.g. fishing, hiking, teambuilding, etc) for the afternoon.
Attending adults! Within the registration, you will need to RSVP for "Going" which confirms you participating on the campout, but not for climbing. If you want to add climbing for $17.50, please look for "Event Items Available to Purchase". Select, it will be added to your cart, and you can then check out.
To complete payment for the campout, you have a couple of options. Pay via PayPal when you RSVP or pay with escrow.
If you want to use escrow, email akrafty@me.com and treasurer.st77@oakgrovescouting.org to verify the escrow funds and load them in your Scout's profile. You can then complete registration for the campout.

MEALS
Bring money for Sunday lunch
Patrols will meet sometime in the two weeks before the campout to determine their meal plans and equipment needs. However, Thanksgiving break is during that time so patrols may need to meal plan remotely.
All patrols are expected to put together enjoyable, healthy menus that use their cooking skills.
Tenting
T77 Scouts are to coordinate tenting with other Scout(s) on their own which includes who they are tenting with and who is bringing the tent. They do not need to communicate their arrangements to the Scoutmaster. Check out the Tenting Guidelines here.
